Online Therapy in Canada, Wherever You Are

Therapy that fits into your actual life—not the other way around.

You don't need to live near my office, sit in traffic for 45 minutes, or rearrange your entire day just to make it to therapy.

Online Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

Maybe therapy is something you've been thinking about for months.

But between work, relationships, kids, appointments, commutes, and everything else already competing for space on your calendar, adding one more place you need to physically be isn't exactly appealing.

That's one of the things I love about virtual therapy.

You can close your laptop after work, grab a coffee, get comfortable on your couch, and meet with your therapist without spending another hour getting there and back.

And when the session ends?

You're already home.

No commute. No waiting room. No awkwardly running into someone you know on the way out.

All you need is privacy, reliable WiFi, and a device with a camera.

I provide online therapy for adults across Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, so whether you're joining me from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Regina—or somewhere much smaller—you can access therapy without having to find the right therapist within driving distance.

Why Choose Virtual Therapy in 2026?

Does Online Therapy Actually Work?

This is probably one of the biggest questions people have about virtual therapy.

For many common mental health concerns, yes—research supports the effectiveness of psychotherapy delivered by videoconference.

But whether online therapy is the right fit for you is a slightly different question.

Some people love being able to talk from their own space. Others concentrate better when they're physically sitting across from someone.

During our initial consultation, we can talk about what you're looking for and whether virtual therapy makes sense for your needs.

And if I don't think I'm the right person or virtual therapy isn't the best option for what you're experiencing, I'll be transparent about that too.

What Does a Virtual Therapy Session Look Like?

If you've never done online therapy before, don't worry. It's pretty straightforward.

You'll receive a secure link for your appointment. When it's time for your session, find somewhere private, grab your headphones if you'd like, and join from your computer, tablet, or phone.

Then we talk.

There's no complicated setup and no expectation that you create the perfect "therapy environment."

Your couch works. Your home office works. Your parked car can sometimes work.

What matters most is that you're somewhere private where you feel comfortable talking openly and can safely participate in the session.

What You'll Need for Online Therapy

What You'll Need for Online Therapy

You don't need much:

  • A reliable internet connection

  • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with video and audio

  • A private location where you can speak comfortably

  • Headphones, if they help you feel more private

And ideally, somewhere you can give yourself a few minutes before and after the session rather than jumping immediately from therapy into your next Zoom meeting.

Frequently Asked Questions about Virtual Therapy

Is online therapy available anywhere in Canada?

Online therapy is available across Canada, but whether a specific therapist can work with you depends on their registration and the rules that apply where you’re located. Not every Canadian therapist is able to see clients in every province or territory.

My practice is 100% virtual, and I currently work with adults located in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. That means you don’t need to live in a major city—or anywhere near me—to work together in 2026. As long as you’re located somewhere I’m able to practise, we can meet online.

Is online therapy effective?

Yes. Research suggests that online psychotherapy can be effective for many common mental health concerns, and for many people, it can offer a similar therapeutic experience to meeting in person.

There are also some benefits that are unique to virtual therapy. Being in your own environment can make it easier to open up, practise new skills in the place you’ll actually use them, and fit therapy into your life consistently. That said, virtual therapy isn’t right for every person or situation, and we can figure out whether it makes sense for you.

How does online therapy work in 2026?

Online therapy works much like in-person therapy, except you meet with your therapist through secure video instead of going to an office. You can attend from home, your office, or another private space where you feel comfortable talking.

Before your appointment with me, you’ll receive the information you need to join your session. When it’s time, grab your laptop or phone, find somewhere comfortable, and log in. No commute, waiting room, or complicated setup required.

What do I need for an online therapy session?

You really don’t need much. For online therapy, you’ll want a private space, reliable WiFi, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone.

Headphones can be helpful if you live with other people, and I recommend finding somewhere you won’t be interrupted if possible. Beyond that, make yourself comfortable. Grab a coffee, curl up on the couch, bring your dog—there’s no perfect way to “show up” for virtual therapy.

Do I need to live in a major city to access online therapy?

No. Virtual therapy allows you to work with a therapist without living within driving distance of their office, which can give you significantly more choice when looking for someone who feels like the right fit.

I work with clients throughout Ontario, BC, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, including people living outside major cities. So if you don’t see your town listed on this page, that doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t work together.

Is online therapy right for everyone?

Online therapy can be a great fit for people who value flexibility, prefer being in their own environment, have busy schedules, or don't have the right therapist nearby. But no, it isn't the best option for absolutely everyone.

Some people simply prefer being in the same room as their therapist. Other situations may require a different level or type of support than virtual psychotherapy can provide. Finding the right format matters just as much as finding the right therapist.

How do I find the right online therapist in Canada?

Finding the right online therapist isn't just about choosing the first person who pops up on Google. Look at their credentials, areas of focus, therapeutic approach, fees, availability, and whether they're able to work with clients where you live.

Then pay attention to the human part: Do you actually feel like you could talk to this person? Their bio and website can tell you a lot, but sometimes you just need to have a conversation. That's why I offer a free 15-minute consultation—you can ask questions, get a feel for me and my approach, and decide whether you think we'd work well together.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

No. My therapy practice is 100% virtual, and I currently don't offer in-person sessions.

Virtual therapy allows me to work with clients across multiple provinces rather than being limited to one physical location—and it gives you the freedom to do therapy from a space that already feels comfortable to you.

Can I do online therapy while travelling in 2026?

Sometimes. Your physical location during an online therapy appointment matters, because therapists need to follow the professional and legal requirements that apply to providing care where the client is located.

So while one of the perks of virtual therapy is flexibility, it doesn't necessarily mean we can meet from anywhere in the world. If you're travelling outside your usual province—or outside Canada—just let me know ahead of time so we can determine whether your session can go ahead as planned.
